About Us

Who We Are

The East Meets West Children's Foundation has a mandate to provide medical treatment and educational training for abandoned and destitute children. Currently, we have two projects in Kolkata, India where we have financed life changing medical treatment for dozens of children. We also sponsor a crèche for children of slum dwellers, or the working poor. The crèche provides close to 40 young children with food, early education and medical care on a daily basis. Without a safe place to go to during the day while their parents are at work, these children are at risk of being kidnapped and forced into begging, prostitution or being sold to those who prey on vulnerable young children. Many of the children that the East Meets West Children's Foundation have helped have found their own "forever" families in India or abroad in countries like Canada, the United States, and various European nations.

The East Meets West Children's Foundation is currently considering expansion of our support to include another project in the state of Punjab, India as the need there is also immense.

The East Meets West Children's Foundation board members give their time and efforts generously. The board is comprised of the following generous volunteers: Mohini Singh, Raghwa Gopal, Mike Hill, Medha Prabhu, Sharon Shepherd, Kam Boparai, Harjeet Sangha, Andy Virk, Jaime Boyle, and Kam Boparai. Consulting Doctor: Dr. Vilas Prabhu. Accountants: Gary Lidhar and Biki Kochar.

The East Meets West Children's Foundation has so far received funds from private individuals, The British Columbia Government Employees Union’s humanitarian fund, and local fundraisers. Without any overhead costs, all funds raised go directly to support our projects, giving vulnerable and helpless children a second chance at life. Please consider joining with us in this most important cause of caring for these precious little ones.
